Fijn dat u de moeite hebt genomen om op mijn website te kijken. Ik hoop u deelgenoot te maken van een boeiende hobby: fotografie. Letterlijk 'schrijven met licht'. Voor mij is fotografie een manier om de werkelijkheid vast te leggen maar dan wel op zo'n manier dat een persoonlijke invalshoek zichtbaar is. Ik ben de eerste om toe te geven dat ik nog midden in het leerproces zit en dat bij veel foto's nog verbetering mogelijk is. Daarom stel ik uw op- en aanmerkingen ook op prijs.

Nice that you have found my website. I hope to introduce you into a fascinating hobby: photography. Literally that means 'writing with light'. To me photography is a means to record reality, but with a personal touch. I will be the first to admit that I am stil in the process of learning and that many photographs could be improved. That's why I's like to receive your comments.

Mijn naam is Jan Pruim en ik werd ruim 58 jaar geleden geboren in het ziekenhuis van Drachten. Ik ben opgegroeid nabij het drielandenpunt van de provincies Groningen, Friesland en Drenthe, in het dorp Marum.  Ik heb een studie Geneeskunde afgerond aan de Rijksuniversiteit Groningen, en ben in 1994 gepromoveerd op een studie naar de (on)mogelijkheden van levertransplantatie. Momenteel ben ik werkzaam als nucleair geneeskundige in het Universitair Medisch Centrum Groningen in de rang van hoogleraar. In juni 2012 ben ik ook benoemd tot buitengewoon hoogleraar Nucleaire Geneeskunde aan de Universiteit Stellenbosch in Zuid-Afrika. Het betreft hier een gasthoogleraarschap. Momenteel ben ik ook lid van de Board van de European Association of Nuclear Medicine vanuit mijn capaciteit als Educational Chair.

Ik ben sinds 1982 getrouwd met Trix Visser. Tezamen hebben we 3 kinderen: Philip, Carina en Irma.

Mijn fotografie hobby is begonnen op de middelbare school, uiteraard toen nog analoog. Mijn eerste camera was een Beirette, een 35 mm zoekercamera van Oostduitse makelij. Daarna heeft mijn fotocarrière een tijdje stilgelegen, maar met de aanschaf van een Olympus OM-20 en een Olympus OM-1n ben ik weer opnieuw begonnen. Beide camera’s zijn in het midden van de jaren 90 van de vorige eeuw ingeruild voor een Canon EOS 300 omdat automatische scherpstelling toen gangbaar werd. In 2007 ben ik overgestapt op digitaal en heb ik een Canon EOS-30D aangeschaft, aangevuld met een Canon EOS-7D in mei 2010. In oktober 2013 werd de 30D vervangen door een Canon EOS-6D. En in 2015 de Canon EOS-7D door een 7D MkII. In 2017 werd de 6D ingeruild voor een 5D MkIV.

Naast de fotografie houd ik me bezig met (klassieke) muziek, bv. in de vorm van het organiseren van concerten, en ben ik voorzitter van de Stichting Vrienden van de Kloosterkerk in Ten Boer.

 

Who am I

Hi. My name is Jan Pruim. I was born some 58 years ago in the Drachten Hospital in The Netherlands. I was raised in the village of Marum which is near the point where the provinces of Groningen, Friesland and Drenthe meet. I finished medical school in Groningen, and currently I am working as a nuclear medicine physician in the University Medical Center Groningen, in the rank of full professor. In June 2012, I was also appointed as extraordinary professor of Nuclear Medicine at Stellenbosch University in South-Africa, a visiting professorship. At the moment I am als a member of the Board of the European Association of Nuclear Medicine due to my  capacity as Educational Chair.

I have been married to Trix Pruim since 1982 and together we have 3 children:  Philip, Carina and Irma.

My photography started during secondary school, at the time of course still analogue. My first camera was a Beirette, a 35 mm viewfinder camera made in East-Germany. I had to stop for a number of years, but with the purchase of an Olympus-OM20 and later an Olympus OM-1n I went for a restart. In the midst of the nineties of the former century I stepped over to Canon with a Canon EOS 300, mainly because of autofocus that had become available. In 2007 I changed to digital with the purchase of a Canon EOS-30D. In May 2010 a Canon EOS-7D was added and in 2013 the EOS-30D was replaced by a EOS-6D. In 2015 the 7D was replaced by a 7D Mark II. And in 2017 the EOS 6D was replaced by an EOS 5D MkIV.

Next to photography I am involved in (classical) music, e.g. the organization of concerts. Also, I am president of the 'Friends of the Cloister Church' foundation in Ten Boer.
